Stained Glass Windows at Fork Baptist Church in Scottsburg, VA

In 2008, Laws Stained Glass Studios installed (12) opalescent glass windows at Fork Baptist Church in Scottsburg, VA. The six main windows (size 34" wide x 78" high with a round top) each had a 12" round Biblical scene and a memorial plate. Four windows (size 34" wide x 63" high with a round top) and two smaller windows (size 34" wide x 57" high with a round top) all had 12" round Biblical scenes and memorial plates as well.

The church had existing wood frame windows with wood sashes. Laws began the installation by removing the wood sashes and covering the outside wood frame with aluminum framing material to make a smooth curve at the top. Laws set a new dark bronze aluminum frame inside this metal covering. On the interior of the frame, the leaded glass window was set. On the exterior, 1/4" Lucite acrylic was installed as the protective covering.

Here the outside wood frame is being covered with thick aluminum framing material so that the curve is nice and smooth at the top.

The completed window from the outside with the new dark bronze aluminum frame installed into the aluminum flashing. On the exterior of the opalescent glass window, 1/4" Lucite acrylic is placed to protect it.
